Toki, which means "time" in Japanese, embodies the harmony between tradition and modernity. This unique blended whisky is born from the synergy between Suntory's three iconic distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita. Unlike its predecessor, Hibiki, Toki features Chita grain whisky and Hakushu single malt, with a subtle hint of Yamazaki malt added for added complexity.
The bold blend imagined by cellar master Shinji Fukuyo overturns conventions: here, grain whisky is not simply a neutral base, but a noble component, carefully balanced alongside the single malts to create a refined, lively, and elegant experience. On the palate, Toki reveals a smooth texture and thirst-quenching freshness, with a spicy finish that leaves a subtle and lingering impression.
The bottle's minimalist yet contemporary design reflects this quest for balance. Its off-center label and kanji logo, designed by calligrapher Tansetsu Ogino, pay homage to Suntory's artisanal heritage while asserting a resolutely modern identity.
Suntory Toki is best enjoyed neat, but it shines particularly well as a highball – a long, fresh, sparkling drink that's perfect for revealing its finesse.
