Wide Himokawa Udon noodles are a signature specialty of the Gunma region, renowned for their long history and many successes. These chewy noodles, about 5 cm wide when cooked, are among the widest of their kind.
Created during the Taisho era by master Hasida Tōkichi, Onihimokawa noodles were discontinued in the 1950s before being revived in 2013, thanks to a rediscovery of Gunma's authentic traditions and flavors.
This local specialty has won several prestigious awards, including first place in customer satisfaction and winning three consecutive national competitions: the 2013 All-Japan Udon Championship and the 2014 and 2015 Udon Excellence Tournament. It also won the 1st Noodle Grand Prix, further cementing its reputation.
Appreciated for their soft texture, impressive width and authentic flavor, they bring a unique taste experience and a touch of Japanese tradition to your meals.
